CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Reaction to the announcement of the proposed Bohemian Colony housing development was mostly positive among people who live and work near the site where the project's developer wants to build.
The praise came in several forms. The first: Neighbors said expansion of this magnitude is good for the city's economy.
One worker said the extra traffic running by his landscape company would be good for business.
Secondly, he was also hopeful that the development would spur reconstruction of pothole-filled streets near the site.
“We really need this road to be better," said Maldonado Nursery and Landscaping, Inc.'s Gilbert Garcia. "Because some of our trucks -- we hit these bumps, and it makes it bad for the trailer to be bouncing up and down. One day we’re going to get a trailer loose and we’re hoping not to.”
A worker at a nearby school did voice safety concerns for the kids with more cars and trucks driving through the area. But in the end she told KRIS 6 News that the pros of the proposed developments outweigh the cons.
