CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — First responders have responded to a major crash that shut down parts of the highway and an intersection.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found an 18-wheeler carrying 7,000 gallons of diesel fuel had rolled over.
Police said the tanker truck was carrying petroleum. It turned off of Park Road 22 onto 361, and the weight shifted. The truck tipped onto its side.
Responders are drilling holes into the tank to drain the petroleum. It is going to be a lengthy process. They said it won’t be cleared until at least 4 p.m.
Traffic is still flowing, but people are being advised to stay out of the area.
The crash happened just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of SPID and Commodores Road.
