CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — All the recent rain in the area has produced a new wave of mosquitoes.

Vector control has already started spraying operations.

The Calallen, Flour Bluff, and North Beach areas are being targeted first. We're told mosquito counts were especially high on North Beach.

Crews have also sprayed parts of the South side, where outdoor high school graduations will be held. That includes Flour Bluff, and around the Cabaniss Field Complex.

Crews will also be spraying on the island tonight.

Just in case you were wondering. local health officials say mosquitoes don't spread coronavirus.

It is a respiratory virus that's transmitted person-to-person.
