CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A delegation of Coastal Bend lawmakers is hoping to get answers from TX-Dot today about the status of the new Harbor bridge construction project.
As we've reported, TX-DOT last week announced that all design activities for the bridge have been suspended.
The Figg Engineering Group designed the bridge.
They also designed a pedestrian bridge in Florida that collapsed last year and killed six people.
The National Transportation Safety Board recently stated the Figg group had failed to identify a design law that caused that collapse.
TX-DOT cited that NTSB report when they suspended design activities.
What's not clear is whether or not construction will stop as well.
State representatives Todd Hunter and Abel Herrero... along with State Sen. “Chuy" Hinojosa ...will meet with TX-DOT leaders later today in Austin for a briefing on the status of the bridge.
