CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A local judge is going to weigh in when it comes to decision making on a state wide level.
Wednesday morning, Judge Timothy McCoy was sworn in after he was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Texas Juvenile Justice Department Advisory Board.
Judge McCoy, who serves as the county court at law 5 judge, says he will help policy making and help advising the governors office on a number of issues affecting the children.
"I wanted to be a part of that decision making progress on a state wide level so I can better serve the kids of nueces county and the kids that come before my court, " McCoy said.
He says he will also oversee the distribution of federal grants and add his advisory opinion over all policy in regards to the juvenile justice division.
