CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend is seeing long lines of cars at local gas stations. The rush is leaving many stations without any gasoline.
At the Stripes Gas Station at Everhart and SPID and you can see people are filling up their cars and gas cans.
The manager spoke with us earlier and he said the gas is flowing in town and that they received a shipment of gas last night.
The problem is because the power is out in town when you have multiple gas stations in one area with no power because they need electricity to pump. People cannot get gas. What this does is it causes a strain on gas stations that are open like we are seeing right now.
We spoke to some people getting gas and they said with no power since Monday they're just driving around looking for gas.
“Of other places being closed and more and more places not having electricity and water and stuff like that, then yeah, spots like this are going to get a lot more action,” gasoline buyer Dominic Martinez said.
Another person we spoke to said that he hopes we can get power back on soon, that unfortunately this weather is something that South Texas is just not used to.
The manager told us this gas should last today and that there should be more gas coming.
