CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Dozens of people were lined up outside the Airline location of Lowe’s looking to land one of the jobs offered.
Locations in Corpus Christi, Kingsville and Aransas Pass are among those stores taking part in the company’s nationwide hiring event today.
"Today, we're looking to hire 50 seasonal employees, hopefully," said Jessica Rodriguez, a Lowe's sales supervisor. "We're looking at interviewing every single person that comes out today, whether we have positions to fill or not.
"Our seasonal jobs season runs about three months. So, even if you don't get a position today that seasonal employment last three months. So, we're going to keep applications and keep interviewing every single person that shows up."
The line for interviews stretched outside of the store.
“I'm very surprised,” job applicant Robert Salinas said. “There's a lot of people here today, applying for work, such as myself, also. I'm really needing a job and this is good. Hiring 100 people.”
The hardware chain is offering on-site interviews and on-site drug screening. If you plan to apply, bring an ID and your Social Security card.
The store will be interviewing applicants until 7 p.m. today.
