CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Veterans who served on the U.S.S. Lexington were on board this afternoon for their annual reunion.

Dozens of sailors got together for a tour of Corpus Christi and lunch aboard the Lexington.

By coincidence, the 8-millionth visitor was greeted at the door with balloons and a gift bag.

The visitor happened to be a veteran who served on the vessel from 1945 to 1946.

"Butterflies in the stomach, it’s just unreal,” said Allie Schraber, the U.S.S. Lexington veteran who was the lucky guest. “My job on the Lex was unhooking the airplanes back then we were using nothing but prop.”

One of the first 120 women to serve on the Lexington also made an appearance.

The reunion is held every year in different parts of the country.
