CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A new department will put the city in charge of two very important issues - affordable housing and homelessness.
And whoever heads up the homeless efforts will have a head start.
During Tuesday's council meeting, City Manager Peter Zanoni recognized the work of intern Emily Shafer.
She’s been collecting the data and meeting with the agencies the new homeless liaison will work with.
Shafer is a Texas A&M-Corpus Christi graduate student working with other university students on finding solutions for the city's homelessness issue.
We’ll have more on what they're coming up with this evening on KRIS 6 News
