CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A hornets’ nest got a little too close for comfort this morning at Fannin Elementary.
A piece of that nest was torn out of a tree by last night's strong winds.
The nest landed on Devon Drive, which is right next to the school.
Because kids walk that route on the way to school, the principal called vector control to remove the hazard.
It turns out the colder temperatures the front brought had stunned the hornets so they weren't swarming.
Vector control sprayed the nest with pesticide and took it away.
They were also working on removing the chunk that was left in the tree.
