CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Police cars lined the streets from Flour Bluff to Kings Crossing Church Saturday morning.

This was in honor of long-time Nueces County Constable Ronnie Polston who passed away this week in San Antonio.

Polston was the constable for Precinct 2 in Flour Bluff from 1981 to 2000.

In 1962 Polston served in the Vietnam War and was stationed at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi.

He later retired in 1972.

Polston then went to work for the County Sheriff's Department, ultimately making the decision to run for constable years later.

Constable Mitchelle Clark of precinct 2 says, "Ronnie just had a presence and Ronnie was fair. He used to always have a saying when I was a deputy out here that everybody gets treated the same. no favors. everybody was treated the same. and I've tried to run my office the same way."

Community outreach was key part of his law-enforcement strategy.
