CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi city council is voting today on a motion to halt a proposed extension of Carroll Lane.
The extension is less than half a mile long, but the CCISD has asked that it be stopped because it would run through a section of land that's now part of the new Carroll High School campus.
One council member plans to vote against stopping that extension.
“We can't just look at what CCISD wants,” District 5 councilman Gil Hernandez said. “We’ve got to look at the big picture."
Hernandez says he’s prepared to push for the extension, although he’s might be facing long odds.
“I don't know if I'm going to win this,” he said. “I doubt it. But I would be remiss not to try."
Hernandez says stopping the extension will mean heavier traffic in the Kostoryz/Saratoga area.
