CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi City Manager Peter Zanoni and some members of the city council took a field trip to the Island on Wednesday to get updates on major projects in that area.

City council members Paulette Guajardo and Greg Smith went there to get an update on various construction projects on the Island.

One of the projects the city leaders were eager to learn more about its progress was the IGA grocery store being constructed right off of Park Road 22. The grocery store is scheduled to be completed this summer.

The group also got a tour of theIsland Canal Project. A contract with Haas-Anderson Construction was approved in January to build the long-planned Park Road 22 bridge. Zanoni says the City will soon issue a notice to proceed on construction of the $14 million dollar bridge that is to go up with the Island Canal Project.
