CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man is facing charges after police say he caused a crash and drove away in a Corpus Christi water department truck.
The crash happened Tuesday night around 7:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of Ayers near Holly Road.
According to a police report, police responded to a major crash involving three cars.
Police said the at-fault-vehicle side swiped a vehicle which spun out and struck the city vehicle. The at-fault-vehicle came to rest on a gas meter and the driver then got out and got into the city water department truck. He drove away from the crash scene.
Detectives said the vehicle was tracked and officers with the Port Aransas police department located the vehicle and driver was placed into custody.
51-year-old Christopher Romero was arrested for the unauthorized use of a Corpus Christi city vehicle.
