CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Catholic Charities' new Choice Pantry is now open.
A "choice pantry" allows people needing food assistance to choose for themselves what products they receive, rather than receiving pre-packaged bags.
The idea is to cut down on food waste, but that's not all.
“We want to make sure that we're allowing folks to have dignity when they shop, and come and ask us for services, so that is the most important thing for us,” said Angelina Garcia of Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi.
Selection will vary from month to month and a staff member or volunteer will be on hand to assist when shopping.
Catholic Charities is located at 615 Oliver Court.
