CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Zavala Elementary School has received a $16,000 grant from the American Federation of Teachers.
The school plans to go by the book with this one.
Zavala Elementary is in the planning process of becoming an afternoon-sponsored community school, and helping its kids doesn't stop during school hours.
With this grant, students will be able to pick four books apiece to take home as theirs as part of a home library.
