CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A nest of baby birds was discovered high above the ground inside a display sign for the Goodwill Donation Station located on Alameda near Everhart on Thursday. This was a surprise for workers, and operations came to a quick halt.
“While replacing these signs we never anticipated that we would find these baby birds,” said vice president of marketing for Goodwill South Texas Marjorie Boudreaux.
Boudreaux said once these baby birds were found, crew members were at a standstill. Thankfully, help was right next door. Bird professional Marcus Lozano with Feathered Friends & Co. said when you find baby birds like this, the best thing to do is place the birds in a box, keep them warm, and contact the proper resources.
“Anytime you find yourself a wild bird or a hurt animal, something that you know needs help but your hands are tied, the best thing you can do is contact the Texas Sealife Center,” said owner of Feathered Friends & Co. Marcus Lozano.
Workers with the Texas Sealife Center say they are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of coastal and aquatic wildlife in the Coastal Bend region.
“It’s a great community organization that we have. We’re grateful that Texas Sealife is there to provide this type of service,” said Boudreaux.
Boudreaux and her staff were able to transport the birds to the Texas Sealife Center where workers will rehabilitate and release the animals back to their natural environment when they're ready.
