CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — With cold, rainy weather in the forecast, the Corpus Christi Hooks moved their watch party for Game 7 of the World Series between the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals from Whataburger Field to nearby Brewster Street Ice House. The dreary weather outside matched the moods of dozens of people inside after the Astros lost six to two.

"It's very disappointing," Corpus Christi Hooks Manager of Business Development Diana Sleep said. "I think we were just thinking we could turn it around and get the bat on the ball and make something happen. But it's disappointing that we couldn't make it happen in the 8th or 9th inning."

And those friends obliged, agreeing to host the party and even trotting-out a special drink menu featuring "The Altuve" and "Springer Dinger" -- references to star Astros players Jose Altuve and George Springer.

Altuve and Springer are among several current Astros who once played for the Hooks. It's why Hooks fan and employee and watch party-goer Ryan Smith says he became an Astros fan.

"Grew up going to the games here in Corpus, and obviously seeing guys like Springer, (Alex) Bregman, and Altuve come through the system, it's impossible not to be," Smith said.

As for handling the anxiety of Wednesday's winner-take-all World Series Game 7 -- maybe Smith should start sipping on a Springer Dinger.

"I know I'm going to be stressed," Smith said. "I'm going to be chewing on my fingernails, stressed-out all night."

He was stressed, but like everyone else at the watch party, he was also warm and dry. That would not have been the case at Whataburger Field tonight.

"Much better," party-goer Dino Hernandez said of the venue change. "This is cool."
