CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A local woman celebrated 100 years of life Monday.
Betty Matthews was born on October 26, 1920 in England.
She survived the Germans bombing her home outside of London during WWII and married an American GI that she met at the pub her parents owned where she tended bar.
She then worked as a switch board operator for the American army before coming to the US when she was 25.
She says she's surprised she has made it this long.
We would like to wish her a very happy birthday.
