ARANSAS PASS, Texas — While it is hard to be fully prepared for a situation you never expected to face. There are some steps that could save your life.
That's why the Aransas Pass Police Department (APPD) is offering an active shooter training.
In the active shooter training you will learn about the acronym A.D.D,, it stands for avoid deny defend. You will also learn how to control the feelings and the effects that happen to you during and after an active shooter event.
Captain Lynn Pearce and the Aransas Pass Police Department want to make sure you and your family are always safe.
"It can happen here, but if we're prepared ahead of time, we can protect ourselves. If you know or see something suspicious, report it. Alot of these things could be prevented if people would just share the information that they have." Captain Pearce says.
APPD also offers license to carry classes once a month. They are one of the only departments in the State of Texas that offers free classes to it's citizens.
For the active shooter course, it is free to the public.
