CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Staff gave the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to the facility's 97 residents at the Solstice Senior Living Center Saturday morning.

In total, it took about 40 minutes. The facility's executive director Michelle Kelm said it's important for the residents to be vaccinated.

"They are definitely the most susceptible, they're definitely the ones that really need to get vaccinated, right now, I know it's hard to get the vaccine right now but it'll get easier. "

Kelm told KRIS 6 News nearly the entire staff worked on Saturday in an effort to expedite the vaccinations.
All 97 residents will get their second dose of the vaccine on February 27.
