One homeowner is going to be in for the shock of their lives when they get home this evening.
An 84-year-old man was ticketed for failure to control speed after trying to make a turn onto the 4000 block of Sarita Street from Horne Road on the west side.
Police said that while attempting to complete his right turn, the man accelerated instead of braking and drove into the front of the house.
A tree was also taken out.
No one was home at the time, and the elderly man was checked out at the scene and released.
The red Hyundai sedan he was driving received significant front-end damage, as did a front portion of the home.
