CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — There is a smoke ring in the air around Robstown this weekend.
That's because the 35th annual "Cottonfest BBQ-Cookoff."
It's an event most people will expect to see beef brisket, spare ribs and chicken.
More than a dozen cook-off teams will fire up their pits and grills. If you want to enter this year's competition, organizers say the entry fee is $200 per team. If anyone wants to enter the event, call Wanda Russell at 361-933-5211.
Along with bragging rights, this IBCA sanctioned event has a guaranteed $10,000 payout.
The 35th Cottonfest BBQ Cook-Off started Friday at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds (RMB Regional Fairgrounds). The fun continues today until midnight.
The City of Robstown is announce that this year has a petting zoo, pony rides, and helicopter rides.
