A fishing guide found something suspicious in Copano Bay this week.
He sent us a video that shows the oily-looking substance in the water and someone on the tape accused “Paradise Key Dockside Bar & Grill” of dumping its grease trap into the bay.
The restaurant issued a statement saying there was no dumping. They say it was the runoff from cleaning the roof and vents. The cleaning of the vents involves an EPA-approved product that breaks down oil and grease.. and then dissipates in the water.
The Coast Guard came out to investigate and found no violation.
When we sent a camera crew by today, there was no residue and the water looked clean.
