Corpus Christi police say a man is facing serious charges after he punched an officer and bit another.

Police say it started at 6:00 p.m. Saturday after police pulled over a driver of a vehicle traveling along I-37 and Up River Road, suspected of being intoxicated.

Police say they arrested 55-year-old Jesus Zamora for suspected for driving intoxicated.

Zamora was taken to Christus Spohn Shoreline for a blood draw. When a nurse needed Zamora’s arms to be uncuffed, that is when police say Zamora punched an officer. While police were trying to hold Zamora down, investigators say he then bit the arm of another officer.

He was arrested, handcuffed again, and taken over to the Nueces County Jail.

He faces one charge of driving while intoxicated and two charges of aggravated assault against a police officer.

Jail officials said his bond amount is set at $105,000 — $ 5,000 for the DWI and $100,000 for assaulting two public servants.

Both officers were treated at the hospital.
