The Diocese of Corpus Christi has announced it will be closing a Kingsville Catholic School.
Friar Joseph Lopez, pastor at the Saint Gertrude the great Church in Kingsville announced Friday that Saint Gertrude the Great Catholic School will close on May 31 after the completion of the 2018-19 school year.
The diocese says changing demographics, declining enrollment and growing financial challenges contributed to the school’s closure.
The diocese’s office of catholic schools will be working with families to retain the 60 students currently enrolled A Saint Gertrude.
Representatives and administrators from, Saint Anthony, in Robstown, the nearest Catholic school were on hand for Friday’s announcement to meet parents, schedule tours and conduct registration.
