As crews continue to search for a King High School student who is believed to have drowned near Whitecap Beach, a cleanup scheduled for tomorrow at the Padre Island National Seashore and North Padre Island / Padre Balli Park beaches has been canceled.
The Texas General Land Office announced today that following the disappearance yesterday of JeSani Smith, it is in the best interest of volunteers and the community to cancel the cleanup.
GLO says all other cleanup locations will remain in operation, and volunteers who signed up for the PINS and Balli Park cleanups can attend other cleanups at nearby locations.
