A report of smoke prompted an evacuation at Travis Elementary School this morning.
According to Battalion Chief Tony Perez with the Corpus Christi Fire Department, firefighters responded to a report of smoke at the school around 11 a.m.
Perez said the school did an excellent job of getting students and staff out of the building, and investigators were able to quickly locate the source of the smoke.
An electrical problem with a classroom air conditioning unit was the likely cause of the smoke, Perez said.
Firefighters cleared the area and students and staff were allowed to return to class.
