Improvements on the way to keep Nueces County Jailers safe

Nueces County Commissioners have voted to make improvements to a parking lot used by Nueces County jailers.

During this morning’s meeting, they approved funding to build a six foot barbed wire fence and security gate around the jailers parking lot on Lipan Street and Waco Street.

The parking lot is directly across from the Nueces County Jail where several windows face the parking lot, allowing inmates to see which cars jailers are driving.

This morning’s vote is good news for jailers. The President of the Nueces County Sheriff’s Officers Association Joe A. Gonzalez said in the past, jailers have had their cars broken into.

Gonzalez said he hopes the new gate will alleviate problems for jailers.
