With spring break just a few days away, local law enforcement is offering drivers a few words of warning.

Tex-DOT officials held a press conference Monday morning with various law enforcement agencies to highlight their spring break game plan.

Police officers said they will be out in force at various hotspots, looking for various infractions, especially intoxicated drivers.

Port Aransas police chief Scott Burroughs said, “Drive defensively. Don’t drink and drive. There is a large police presence in town. If you are caught driving while intoxicated you will be arrested.”

“All it comes down to is responsibility. Not getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle after you’ve been partaking in adult beverages. Or having someone else give you a safe ride to and from where ever it is you are going,” said DPS Sargent Nathan Brandley.

This year’s spring break enforcement period will go from March 9, 2019, through March 24, 2019.
