CCPD: Bus causes crash at busy intersection

A small Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority bus sustained damage after it turned in front of a car, causing a crash.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Staples Street and McArdle Road.

Corpus Christi public information officer Gena Pena says the crash happened in the middle of the busy intersection.

A crash report provided to KRIS 6 News states the driver of the bus was at fault for causing the crash. As the car was traveling south on Staples, the bus turned in front of the car causing a collision the report continued.

Officer Pena added both the driver of the bus and the car sustained minor injuries.

As a result of the location of the collision, certain lanes were blocked off for traffic.

The story has been updated to reflect the driver of the bus caused the crash. A previous report stated police said the driver of the car caused the crash.
