Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. It is also known as a Day of Service.

In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is ‘What are you doing for others?'” The MLK Day of Service is intended to empower individuals, strengthen communities and move closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “beloved community.”

There are many ways to commemorate MLK Day in the Coastal Bend. Here is a list of events happening today you can join.

The MLK Day of Service is observed as a “day on,” not a “day off,” especially for members of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). RSVP, along with Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi will work together today on Project Comeback: Texas.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., the RSVP group will be assembling a storage building in San Patricio County today.
