Thrill-seekers, engage. Visiting USS Lexington is about to become a little more exciting.

The museum is launching “Lockdown on the Lex – Ultimate Escape Rooms” on Friday, Jan. 18.

USS Lexington’s first escape room experience, “Mission #1: Beat the Blast” promises to be full of excitement as teams will have one hour to complete the assigned mission, or face nuclear annihilation.

The experience will transport players to the heart of the Cold War where they will have to complete puzzles in order to find and diffuse a nuclear bomb hidden aboard the aircraft carrier. The adventure uses state-of-the-art technology programmed into historical naval equipment.

“We were able to transform an unused area of the ship into a state-of-the-art escape room that will engage visitors in a unique experience based in part on actual historical events,” Executive Director Steve Banta said.

The price for the escape room experience is $35 per person, which includes full admission to the museum.
