Former Corpus Christi City Council District 3 candidate Eric Tunchez was in court this morning.

In early November, a Nueces County Grand Jury indicted Tunchez on charges of Aggravated Promotion of Prostitution, a second degree felony.

During today’s court appearance, Judge Nanette Hasette appointed an attorney to Tunchez’ case after he said that he just started a new job and does not have money for an attorney.

Tunchez, who is the founder of the group “Stop Bullying”, was running for the District 3 of City Council, which represents the city’s westside and portions of the southside.

Tunchez has previously denied the charge, calling it politically motivated.

If found guilty, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
