A woman lost control of her vehicle and crashed through two fences before landing in the backyard of a home overnight. She had to be extracted from the overturned vehicle and was rushed to the hospital, according to officials on scene.

The accident happened just after 2:20 a.m. when officers say the 27-year-old driver, possibly speeding, lost control while driving down Blevins St. The car went through one backyard and landed upside down in another, according to Lt. Henry Sepulveda with the Corpus Christi Police Department.

A car landed upside down in the backyard of a home on Logan Ave. after the driver lost control.

Rescue crews were called out to get the woman out of the vehicle, who was unconscious. She was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Sepulveda said.

Sepulveda said the scene could have been much worse.

“Miraculously she missed both houses, she didn’t hit any structures, so that was good,” Sepulveda said. “Nobody was out in their backyard at the time so the only injuries right now are for the driver.”

The woman is expected to be ticketed for failing to control speed and will be responsible for the damages caused. Officers are also investigating whether alcohol was a factor in this crash.
