A bomb threat prompted an evacuation at Gregory-Portland Middle School earlier today.

Authorities say one child has been detained in connection to the threat.

Students and faculty at the school were moved away from the school to a safe location while Portland Police and other law enforcement searched the campus. No bomb was found.

The roadways leading to the high school and middle school areas were blocked off and traffic was not permitted to pass. Additionally, all campuses and the district’s central administrative facility were place in lock-out mode as a precautionary measure.

The city of Portland said students and faculty were allowed to return to the school at 11:50 a.m.

A release from the district said the threat was communicated in a handwritten note.

Earlier in the day, the middle school went into lock out after confirmation of an electrical breaker failure on a transformer.

This is a developing story, and more information will be reported as it becomes available.
