A husband and wife, married more than 60 years pass away within days of each other. Today, their children say it’s a story of true heartbreak.
Nell Marie Anthony and Donald Anthony met in Corpus Christi while Don was stationed at the Naval Air Station.
The couple was married 64 years but just a month ago, Don was diagnosed with Leukemia and passed away on a Friday afternoon. Blake Anthony, their oldest son says when they told their mother who suffered from dementia they knew she understood.
Blake said “We kind of joked that she was so spoiled by my dad and she was so used to getting her way that after three days without him she goes, ‘No I don’t like this. I think I’ll go where he is.’ And we kind of sense that that was her feeling. We rejoice in that even though it’s hard to lose both of them at the same time.”
The family held a double funeral for the couple and were laid to rest, alongside each other.
