ROBSTOWN – Robstown city officials say a 21-year-old man, who is connected to an investigation of the death of an infant girl, was arrested late last night.

Robstown City Manager Herman Rodriguez says 21-year-old Daniel Ortiz was arrested Monday night. He was brought back and processed into the Nueces County Jail around 5:00 am Tuesday morning.

Ortiz had a warrant issued for his arrest in connection with the death of an infant girl, Arabella Sanchez, back on Dec. 22, 2017.

Chasity Herrera, the girl’s mother, had been charged with her death but the charges against her were dismissed after DNA evidence revealed physical evidence that implicated Ortiz.

Ortiz was charged with capital murder of a person under ten years old.

His bond was set at one million dollars.
