CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Heroes come in many forms.

The Rotary Club of Corpus Christi is hosting an event to help you honor your heroes.

It's part of their second annual flags for heroes event.

For $50, anyone can sponsor a flag to recognize someone important in their lives.

From military personnel, first responders, or health care workers to teachers and spouses.

The flags will be displayed from Ropes Park along Ocean Drive to Oleander Point at Cole Park.

“Our past president, Alan Wilson, was putting up a flag and a former veteran stopped by and said I can't believe you guys are doing this,” Rotary Ambassador Marissa Ford said. “This is awesome and amazing. He's like the welcoming and feeling of warmth of the veterans and the people that are around the coastal bend area. This is phenomenal.”

Last year, 600 flags were on display.

But this year, the group plans to line Ocean Drive with more than 1,000 sponsored flags.

The event begins this Saturday and runs through Nov. 17.
