AUSTIN, Texas — Presidential electors are meeting across the United States on Monday to formally choose Joe Biden as the nation’s next president. In Texas, that meeting will begin at 2 p.m. at the Texas State Capitol in Austin.

Today is the day set by law for the meeting of the Electoral College. But actually, electors meet in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to cast their ballots.
The results will then be sent to Washington and tallied in a Jan. 6 joint session of Congress.
The electors’ votes have drawn more attention than in any election in United States history this year. President Donald Trump has refused to concede the election and continued to make allegations of fraud.
President Trump won Texas, so he will claim all of the state's 38 electoral votes. But President-elect Joe Biden won the election, so he will receive most of the nation's electoral votes — with a 306-232 edge that will give him the election. A candidate needs 270 electoral votes to be elected.
Biden plans to address the nation later tonight, after the electoral college meetings are completed today. Trump continues to maintain his unproven claims that he won the election, in an attempt to undermine Biden's presidency before it is set to begin with the inauguration next month.
“No, I worry about the country having an illegitimate president, that’s what I worry about," Biden said in an interview with Fox News over the weekend. "A president that lost and lost badly."
