CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — West Oso food service workers were surprised when they showed up for work earlier this week.

These ladies say they show up every morning at 6 a.m. to begin preparing to serve the students.

So imagine their surprise when they showed up this morning and saw this chalk artwork.

Words of thanks and appreciation from anonymous students.

Messages like "Food Service Rocks" "Our kids appreciate you" and "Thank you for the food."

Ray Williams, West Oso's food services director, says he has no idea who did it.

So maybe it’s a group of students and parents doing something special, and not looking for recognition.

A parent dropped off some candy while we were there.

"We’re making a difference in our community," Williams said. "We’re letting the West Oso community know we are here for the community."

Williams says 400-500 meals are available Monday thru Friday between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They served 405 of them yesterday, but won’t serve any tomorrow.

It’s Good Friday.

LeeAnn Canas works with Communities in Schools.

She was out there today, digging the artwork.

"It just shows us that all the work we do doesn’t go unseen or unappreciated," Canas said.

Williams says the drive-up meal delivery plan will continue until further notice.
