ROBSTOWN, Texas — Three-thousand masks were donated to the Robstown community Tuesday.

The free face masks were handed out at the Robstown branch of the Boys and Girls Club.

The event was hosted by District 27 Congressional candidate Ricky De La Fuente and Robstown City Councilman Cezar Martinez.

"This is a virus that has affected us all in one way or another and we need to be safe and play our part. Wearing a mask is a way to do so," said De La Fuente.

Organizers handed out the free masks until they ran out.

Health officials say masks help stop the spreading of the coronavirus.
