PORT ARANSAS, TEXAS — The coronavirus pandemic has led to the cancellation of a popular tourist event in Port Aransas.
Organizers with the Texas SandFest said their event will not take place this year, due to COVID-19 concerns.
In a statement, posted on the group's website, states, "The highest priority is the health and safety of our visitors, sculptors, volunteers, sponsors, and vendors. In light of public health directives from state and county officials, the Texas SandFest Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to not go forth with this year's festival."
The Texas Sandfest is one of Port A’s biggest events every year that draws in thousands of tourists to the Coastal Bend.
The group said the move will help them look forward to Texas SandFest 2021.
So far, the event has been scheduled to take place on April 23-25, 2021.
