Restrictions being placed on city parks

Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales announced that beginning Thursday, the county's stay-at-home order will be changed to align with the state order outlawing group gatherings.

Social gatherings will not be allowed at parks or on beaches. Families are exempt from the rule.

This is due to city officials becoming aware of gatherings at local parks, which will now be monitored. The lights at the Water's Edge basketball courts also will be dimmed at night.

Mayor Joe McComb said the city doesn't want to close local parks, but it will if ordinances are not respected.
