CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas A&M Coastal Bend Health Education Center Medication Assistance Program has a program providing medications at an affordable cost or free.

These services are especially needed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many are losing their jobs and are having trouble affording their medications.

If you are uninsured, under-insured, or recently lost your job and benefits because of Coronavirus related layoffs, program manager Sandra Garica says they will help you apply to get your medication at affordable costs.

“If they’re approved through the pharmaceutical company - they would receive anywhere from 90 to 120 days supplies of medication,” she says.

This service helps provide help for chronic diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular needs, mental health, respiratory and other chronic diseases.

The program serves 27 counties throughout South Texas.

We'll talk to those who benefit from the program during our newscasts at 4, 5, 6 and 10 p.m.
