CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A pet food distribution was held today at the Greenwood Senior Center at today’s Beat the Heat event.
Many residents may have pets and may be out of job due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The organization known as People Assisting Animal Control or PAAC wanted to bring relief to pet owners by giving them a free bag of dry food.
“We got a very large grant from the Humane Society of the United States and chewy.com, so we got about $25,000 worth of food,” said Cheryl Martinez, president of PAAC. “Our goal is to help as many people during this COVID event.”
The organization will continue to give out free food at every Beat the Heat event to help out the community.
