CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County Courthouse underwent some deep cleaning and sanitizing today.

As we reported June 16, county Judge Barbara Canales, county commissioners, and other courthouse workers are in self-quarantine after a courthouse employee tested positive for COVID-19.

All the employees who came in contact with that individual person are being tested and quarantined.

“First, let me assure you, I'm doing great,” Canales said Wednesday. “I'm fine. And I'm pleased to report, in fact, that I received my test results negative late last night.”

County commissioners Brent Chesney and John Marez announced they also tested negative.

We're told the county commissioners will be working from home for the time being.

Meanwhile, anyone entering the district attorney's office at the courthouse will be required to wear a mask and sanitize their hands.
