CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — If you feel sick, but are hesitant to go sit inside a waiting room with other sick people, there’s a local clinic that says they’ll take care of you.
“Through Facetime, Docs, or messenger,” said Cynthia Malowitz, nurse practitioner and owner of Bay Area Quick Care.
Bay Area Quick Care has launched a new “Telehealth” service which lets you visit with the nurse practitioner from the comfort of your couch.
“I talk to the patients and it usually takes quite a while because I have to get a really thorough history since I can’t examine them in person,” said Malowitz. “There’s some things that I can’t see like looking at their throat, or a rash, a laceration, in a case like then I’ll just go ahead and send them to the clinic.”
Malowitz says she will see new patient for only $35 even if they don’t have insurance.
“And they don’t have to leave their house , they’re not going to expose anyone they’re not going to get exposed, its super convenient,” said Malowitz.
If during a call someone presents symptoms of the coronavirus, she directs them where to go.
“We are having them call the Nueces County coronavirus Hotline and if they determine its something they should test for then they go ahead and go through them,” said Malowitz.
She says during the COVID 19 pandemic, the government is waiving stricter rules on doctor-patient communication which allows her to treat patients from the convenience of their home.
Bay Area Quick Care offers Telehealth service 7 days a week.
