CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Judge Barbara Canales has issued a stay-at-home order for Nueces County because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Canales' order means that local residents are ordered to stay at home to the greatest extent possible, she said.
Her order is not as restrictive as a shelter-in-place.

"We want you to go outside and breath fresh air," Canales said. "You can go outside if you practice social distancing of at least six months.

It's not a suggestion but a law.

Among categories that can still continue include health care, grocery shopping, social services, government. Workers such as Plumbers, electricians, mechanics, roofers, air condition technicians can continue work.

"Your H-E-B is still available to you as well as other big box stores.," she said.

The order starts tomorrow at 11:59 p.m. and will last for two weeks.

Canales made a brief biblical reference and moment of silence before she made her announcement.
