CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Those cool gadgets and electronics many people have in their possession may come in handy whenever needed.
Yet, medical experts want to make sure folks are wiping down electronics and making sure the surfaces are clean, as the pandemic continues.
Electronic devices like cell phones, remote controls, and much more can be everyday items people come in contact with routinely. That continual use is why they must be cleaned frequently.
Health professionals say transmitting the coronavirus can come by little saliva droplets.
If an infected person coughs, sneezes or even talks near someone else, those little particles can escape.
“Those particles, little droplets of saliva can get into your hands into your electronics and you touch them you can contaminate your hands,” says Driscoll Children’s Hospital Dr. Jamie Fergie, the facility's director of infectious diseases.
Fergie says cleaning your electronics can lower the chances of someone getting sick, but the biggest step is to wash your hands frequently.
“Washing your hands frequently - 20 seconds soap and water - and being very meticulous about this,” Fergie said.
Doing your part is critical to not just protecting yourself but others as well.
